01-17-11 - Pride

01-17-11
They took your life, they could not take your pride.
MLK Day
40 miles
Everything closed due to the Holiday. I fount the Chase bank next to the US Bank and also a AAA location and a couple of thrift stores for tomorrow.
I re-camped at Red Rocks for the night. Called Stuart Adams, my high school best friend’s younger brother. Larry passed away a few months prior and Stuart handled all the hard stuff that followed in it’s wake. Stuart’s always been a good guy and has grown from the goofy kid brother to a solid family man and business owner. We met at “The Commons” shopping center in front of a bank north of the 215 bypass. We talked about Larry, their mom at Christmas time; his children; vinyl records; collectables and life in general.
He talked of his job maintaining the landscaping at the “M” Casino/Resort nd how fortunate it was as construction had come to a halt a few years ago. He said he’d have been in a difficult situation if he hadn’t been doing the “M” job prior to the floor falling out from under the construction industry in las Vegas a few years back, circa 2008. He passed along that his son suggested a site called “Couch Surfing dot net” I noted it to look up when I had internet access next. We said goodbyes and headed to the respective places we’d be sleeping at that night.
Getting back to camp I had a fire at the campsite, some food and went to sleep by 7 pm. Cold! [p-take bottle idea worked!]
